The North Shore Rotary Club recognized three of our Community’s Unsung Heroes with Service Above Self Awards, each who, through devotion and exemplary efforts embody Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self.

John J. Amodio, Ianthe Bradshaw, and Aiman Youssef were all honored for making a positive impact in the life of others through their service and selfless dedication to our community.

John J. Amodio, no stranger to the Staten Island Community serves as the Chairman of SCORE, where he is a certified mentor, business consultant, coach, and trainer providing professional guidance and information to small businesses with over 50+ years of experience. John has help guide hundreds of Staten Island Small Businesses, especially when needed the most. Although retired, John’s service to Staten Island continues through this role along with his dedicated service as a Rotarian in the Staten Island Rotary Club where he serves as the Chair of the Club’s Foundation.

Bradshaw’s selfless dedication to the Island’s disabled community leads through her work at Community Resources. Upon graduating from CSI in 1994, she became a Developmental Specialist at United Cerebral Palsy of NYC (now ADAPT) where she was employed for 16 years before joining the Community Resources team. Her commitment to her work and our community extends outside of the workplace where she continues to care for those to make sure they are properly taken care of.

Hurricane Sandy gave local fame to Aiman Youseff, familiarly known as the “Half-Table Man,” where he setup shop in Midland Beach to provide much needed resources for the community around him. Nine years later, Aiman’s story and work continue, there was no stopping, even after Sandy. Half Table Man has become a FEMA certified relief organization and has fed well over 600 families in Staten Island. Through the Pandemic, Aiman and his team have continued to provide resources, PPE, food, and support to anyone who needs it.

“The Rotary Club of North Shore is proud to recognize these amazing individuals as Staten Island’s Unsung Heroes for the great work they have done to make our home a better place. In the last nine years, we have had the opportunity to hear from and honor some very special people, who may not typically get recognized for their work being done in the background,” said Frank Wilkinson, North Shore Rotary Club President.

Previous recipients of the North Shore Rotary’s Service Above Self Unsung Heroes Recognition include Greta Andrade, Mary Louise Brown, Carol Bullock, Patrick Calvo, Annemarie Dowling-Castronovo, Deanna Di Bartolo, Nazareth Laursen, Patricia McGee, Beatrice Victor, Mary Voytus, and Milton Zlotnick.
